Brightwater Garden Club
Introduction
The Brightwater Garden Club has been a part of the subdivision's social activities since Brightwater's inception in 1986. The group meets monthly between September and April at the Clubhouse. Each meeting is highlighted with a guest speaker who presents a program of interest to gardeners. Join us for great refreshments, fellowship and a good learning experience.
Meeting Dates & Time
We meet in the Clubhouse on the 4th Monday of the month at 6:45 pm. The meetings scheduled for the Spring are listed below:
If you’ve been to Enchanted Forest at 10611 FM 2759 in Richmond, Texas, you know they know how to make spectacular hanging baskets! Brightwater Garden Club has had a long term relationship with this friendly local nursery owned by Betty and Gary Lenderman. They and their staff delight in sharing their extensive knowledge of native and exotic plants. We will learn how to make eye-catching baskets that will liven our gardens all spring and summer.

The Brightwater Garden Club was the recipient of five awards from the Houston Federation of Garden Clubs. Our club received a First Place award in the following five areas:

Lexington Creek Elementary
On Monday, March 10, 2008 the Brightwater Garden Club visited Lexington Creek Elementary School third grade classrooms to educate the students about Arbor Day. Betty Grant, Garden Club president, assisted by Nancy Hudson, spoke to seven classes about the history of Arbor Day and the value of trees to our society. The students then participated in acting out the proper way to plant a tree. At their recess later that morning, the students met with several garden club members at their playground’s edge to dedicate a live oak recently donated and planted by Brightwater Garden Club. The students enthusiastically helped mulch and water their new tree!
This is the seventh tree the BGC has donated for Arbor Day to Lexington Creek to enhance the children’s play area and track. Brightwater Garden Club also continues to assist the PTO by purchasing plants for the school’s award winning Butterfly Garden , designed and established six years ago with grants and funds secured by the Club under the direction of Pam Allen, a club member and Master Gardener.
